Visual Argument

When the assignment came up on the photo story argument, I immediately thought of iMovie photo story. Making a photo story is not as easy as I thought it would be, because the choices of my images are crucial to a presentable presentation. However my opinion on images is pretty straightforward. I believe presenting my argument, as a photo story would enable me to reach a wider variety of viewers. Where as brochure or poster it limits the amount of viewers just to local areas. The simple fact that I am able to upload it to YouTube speaks for it self. Furthermore, it will reach millions of viewers around the world.

I used Google to search for photos I can use for my photo story, my sound track and inspirational and meaningful quotes. I feel that pictures are worth more then any other visual argument, because in any picture you are able to identify rather the picture is related to sadness or happiness. In addition, pictures allows you to choose your preference in terms of how you can manipulate your audience’s views by the types of pictures you choose to show in your photo story. The pictures I chose is towards the pathos area because I want my audience to understand how important it is to value and appreciate what mother nature has to offer to us all.

I believe my choice of visual argument is an effective one, because I am able to show more people around the world. As a result, bigger audience from young to elderly age groups would have the chance to view the photo story through YouTube. I do wish that it were not limited to how many images I was allowed to present in my photo story. This way I could show a full story and cover more areas in my visual presentation. I also believe it would make my visual argument a better point, and serve a better purpose than a poster or brochure.

Furthermore, I would be able to show a wider variety of perspectives relating to the issues. In addition, it would aloud me to show more methods and solutions to help the community problem.

I believe the outcome of my photo story will be entertaining as well as informative. I feel that without technology, my photo story outcome would not be as appealing. My goal is to reach as many audiences as possible throughout the community.

Visual Argument assignment reflection

I was very excited to work on this visual argument assignment. Because I enjoy doing research, it is a good way for me to learn. Through the process of facilitating the assignment Google was my best friend. I was able to find many useful photos to enhance my visual argument. In addition, some of the text was another great way to help get my point across, though I had to do a lot of research for the photo story. I discovered more about pollution problems in China than most people can imagine. Throughout the process I also learned that there are many solutions that China has already implemented to resolve the pollution problem. I normally precede an essay assignment with a draft because it helps me pin point and narrow down what can be effective for me to use and what is not so effective. Overall I feel confident about this assignment in terms of my photo story. The assignment enables me to understand how well a photo story can send its message. Therefore, I have already applied the skills I have already learned for this assignment in my personal and professional project.
